The World's Fastest Electric Vehicles

We're fans of all things cutting edge, and that most certainly includes the gadgets that get you from A to B. In the world of vehicles, the newest and freshest offerings are all electric.

New products from Tesla Motors, Elon Musk's Silicon Valley-based electric vehicle company, are always a hit. But Tesla's not the only company producing super speedy high-tech vehicles; in fact, cars are just the tip of the electric-vehicle iceberg.

Take, for example, the JR-Maglev MLX01, an experimental magnetic levitation train developed in Japan. It uses magnets to move and stay on track, and is capable of topping 360 mph. Meanwhile, France's Train a Grande Vitesse uses old-fashioned wheels, but also runs on electricity, and has traveled as fast as 357 mph.

The spiffy looking Tesla Roadster Sport can hit 125 mph, but that doesn't even place it in the top two of fastest electric cars. A pair of electric motorcycles - the Lawless OCC Rocket Bike and Mission R - would also dust it in a drag race. The Roadster Sport, however, has them all beat on looks.

The infographic below, which comes courtesy of the British website carloan4u.co., gives us a rundown of all the world's fastest electric vehicles. Tesla is represented there, along with the aforementioned "superbikes" and high-speed trains, but there are a few funky-looking suprises as well. Check out the full infographic for more; then let us know in the comments: Which futuristic vehicle would you most like to take for a spin?

The colourful kingdom: Marvel at the splendid hues of our green (and pink, purple and golden) pleasant land

Britain has been called the magical land and these pictures are a true testimony to that.

Its' spellbinding beauty has inspired writers, poets and many others who have graced this colourful land.

William Shakespeare even famously described Britain as 'this sceptred isle', a 'precious stone set in the silver sea'.

But no words can possibly describe the awe inspiring beauty of this enchanted countryside.

From the soft rolling hills of the South Downs to the forbidding mountains of the Scottish highlands, Britain is blessed with some of the most varied and magical landscapes in the world.

And its utterly amazing beauty could hardly be better revealed than in the stunning snaps shown below.

Taken as part of the 2020 Vision project, these landscapes reveal Britain's breathtaking scenery in all its impressive splendour.

Each of the powerful images was taken as part of an initiative that saw 20 photographers spend 20 months in the field documenting 20 key habitats in Britain.

So scroll down through the pictures and be prepared to have your breath taken away.

The Flamingos Of Lake Nakuru

The Flamingos Of Lake Nakuru

This is Lake Nakuru, located in the middle of Kenya, is the location for one of the most extravagent (and pink) phenomenons in the world. The lake contains a huge amount of algae and crab, and those attract enormous crowds of Flamingos, so many that you can't even tell where the land or water is under them, and everything becomes... pink!

The lake is shallow and the number of visiting flamingos is dependant on the amount of food and water it currently contains.

Not only flamingos come calling though, also other birds, baboons, warthogs and other big mammals. But for visitors, the massive amounts of pink flamingos are the main attractive.

Russian Fishes Fight For Oxygen

Fish cluster at an ice hole, covered with thin pieces of ice, struggling for air in a pond in a park in St. Petersburg, Russia. As the long Russian winter drags on, fish in the ponds of St. Petersburg become increasingly desperate for oxygen, clustering in vast, thrashing masses at shrinking holes in the ice. Not only does ice block oxygen that could be diffused into the water from the air, but it also impedes sunlight from reaching oxygen-generating plants and algae in the water.
